Duality - A Collaboration between Lisa Gerrard & Pieter Bourke

At first listen one can be forgiven for being disappointed that Lisa
seems to have stagnated in terms of artistic innovation.
A generation ago, doing what she damn well pleased meant wild explorations
with instrumentation and electronics.
Now "doing as she damn well pleases" equates to something much subtler.

"Duality", a collaboration with Pieter Bourke, demonstrates that,
like so many artists, a maturity has led to contentment with
simply continuing doing what she has already developed
rather than struggling to be on some cutting edge with greater attention
to computer programming, circuit diagrams, and manuals than art.
The NeWage movement has caught up with the gentler DCD sounds and
will embrace this work I'm sure.

Many a true artist aspires to creating for enjoyment without
the bullshit of having to be on the mythical forefront of innovation.
Being on such a forefront is great for attracting attention to one's
abilities when struggling for recognition as an emerging talent.
I believe a true artist does not *need* to express themselves publicly -
Working for a living is real. Living to work is slavery.
Lisa is fortunate to be able to support (and enjoy) life outside
the city-ratrace with work such as "Duality".

What Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry pioneered in their early days
was inspiration to many more bands other than signal-to-noise.
A listen to Duality is more like visiting an old friend;
appreciating subtleties that only a mature relationship can afford.
