According to NAFI
(the government/public funded propagaganda chums of the private
enterprise that is Bunnings) clearfelling is...

"the most intense harvesting technique where
virtually all trees are removed at one time.
Often associated with plantation harvesting or land clearing for agriculture.
As a forest management technique it is applied in particular forest types
(e.g. karri) but habitat and seed trees are left.
When regrown, forests are even aged."

This is typical of their 1984-like "newspeak".

Firstly, *mis*management rather than management is shown to be their
modus operandi. For instance 217 activists arrested in Goolengook
are having their charges dropped Thursday 15th July, 1999
because the logging they were protesting *was* in fact illegal.

Karri is one of the main tree varieties in question in the
Bunnings campaign. Only 28% of the remaining Karri (and 16% of Jarrah)
Forests are protected in genuine conservation reserves.

What habitat is left? Habitat for what?
According to the Department of Conservation and Land Managements predecessor,
the Forests Dept,
clearfelling of forests for woodchip logs kills 90% of the forest wildlife
within a clearfelled area.

Finally, let us have a laugh at the tautology:
"When regrown, forests are even aged".
So what do they call aged?
Sounds like they are implying that makes them suddenly old growth.
Desperate aren't they?
