The Silicon Valley of Dreams

Summary: 
The emergence of high-tech industries during the latter part of last century was hailed as a revolution in manufacturing; a move away from the dangerous, polluting industries of the past. High-tech industries, it was claimed, were non-polluting, had the potential to generate huge wealth, and could offer opportunities across the social and cultural divides.

That was the theory. The reality, however, has been quite different. According to the two guests for this discussion, high-tech industries are some of the most toxic in the world.
