it would have eventually crashed like my xp machine if certain patches got loaded because i did not have that path? it shouldn't crash, just ebcause of that but then some patches maybe contain objects that cannot be created and the become a dasehd frame and the patch maybe doesn't work correctly if i just have /usr/local/lib/pd/extra as my path this is the default patch then will every subfolder also be in the path you don't need to specify this one no it is not recursicve oh, i c subfolders need to be specifide separately then u r answering my earlier question from 15 minutes ago about installing each lib in its own subfloder ok.:) ah i understand so i didn't explain myself correctly 15 minutes ago. ok have bug on new linux install pd works fine but when we load _chat.pd we get error when the .pdrc files is being read exactly when it reads the line -lib zexy what does it tell you? the pd window? -lib zexy:maxlib well we will have to do it again bu that will crash the machine ?? do what again? yes ok what file am i looking for rdz? there is also -lib maxlib on its own line what do you have to do again? oh i see what is your problem, laserbeak ? i have to reload _chat.pd again in order to duplicate the bug bu that will crash the machine hm... i wll do it again tho no.. well i copied the folder iemlib to extra just restart pd if it means there will be some diagnostics to give u u said i need to take the pd_linux file out of that folder? but i dont see one laserbeak, where did you get that folder? from you last night i think or was it this morning no sorry what happens when you do: tar -xvzf iemlibs.tar.gz? it's iemabs aha it extracts a folder we copied *contents* of iemlib into extra no the *folder* into extra yes and i copied the folder to pd/extra/ uhm..yes oh ok heheh sorry yes that is correct sqgl, restart pd and open a new window no i copied the folder not the contents then try to create_ netclient how do i copy all the contents in console? what flag do i use? cp -r iemabs /usr/lib/pd/extra do it as root that copies the folder yes cause that's what i did didnt you say i need to copy the contents? with '-r'? yes i did that did it work? it copied the folder yes ok fine then he can copy the contents *or* the folder but if the folder then he has to specify its path in .pdrc, yes? and all .pd_linux files are also in pd/extra? sqgl, exactly the pd_linux files from the iemabs folder?? no all the other ones? yes from the tar.gz.file you downlaoaed yes they should be all in /usr/lib/pd/extra sqgl, try to create the following objects: ok so then i need to take them out of the iemabs folder and put them directly in extra makesymbol, netclient, h2~, t3_del laserbeak, wait the, stuff, that was originally in iemabs, leave it in pd/extra/iemabs wich brings me back to my question. how do i copy all the contents of the iemabs folder(take them out of the folder) and put them in the extra? not using the -r flag to just copy the folder there? but all .pd_linux files (not from iemabs) should be also in pd/extra they are ok so everything is fine but please dont go rdz nono hihi we still have problem loading _chat.pd laserbeak, can you post me the output of 'ls /usr/lib/pd/extra'? yes sqgl, so do what i mentioned: k sorry i missed that open a new window and test if these object can be created without errors: makeymbol, netclient, hp2~, t3_del ok so we r restarting pd (zexy, maxlib, iemabs, iem_t3_lib) laserbeak43@linux:/usr/lib/pd/extra> ls -a . expr~.pd_linux lrshift~ rev1-stage.pd .. expr.pd_linux maxlib.pd_linux rev2~-help.pd bonk~ fexpr~.pd_linux netpd rev2~.pd choice fiddle~ pique rev3~-help.pd complex-mod~-help.pd hilbert~-help.pd README.txt rev3~.pd complex-mod~.pd hilbert~.pd rev1-final.pd zexy-2.1 sqgl, yes do restart expr~ iemabs rev1~-help.pd zexy.pd_linux one of the iem libs no loaded expr-help.pd loop~ rev1~.pd laserbeak43@linux:/usr/lib/pd/extra> laserbeak, ok... iemt3_lib: can't load library sqgl, it is called iem_t3_lib change that in your .pdrv .pdrc laserbeak, you still miss all iemlib external though you have the abs now.. wait ok will check .pdrc file again... i can't believe both my friend and i missed that typo! aserbeak43@linux:/usr/lib/pd/extra/iemabs> ls -a . hp3_bess~.pd lp1c~.pd once.pd .. hp3_butt~.pd lp1~.pd output~.pd 0.INTRO.txt hp3_cheb~.pd lp1.wav pink~.pd 1p1z.pd hp3_crit~.pd lp2_bess~.pd popup.pd 7_guis-INTRO.pd hp4_bess~.pd lp2_butt~.pd pp.pd addl~.pd hp4_butt~.pd lp2_cheb~.pd prepend.pd all_guis-INTRO.pd hp4_cheb~.pd lp2c~.pd radiobutton.pd all_guis-INTRO.txt hp4_crit~.pd lp2_crit~.pd rbpq2~.pd any.pd hp5_bess~.pd lp2~.pd rbpw2~.pd ap1c~.pd hp5_butt~.pd lp2.wav receive2list.pd laserbeak, it is ok... ap1~.pd hp5_cheb~.pd lp3_bess~.pd rmstofad.pd ap2c~.pd hp5_crit~.pd lp3_butt~.pd round~.pd ap2~.pd hp6_bess~.pd lp3_cheb~.pd split3.pd you can stop. bng.pd hp6_butt~.pd lp3_crit~.pd subl~.pd hihi bp2~.pd hp6_cheb~.pd lp3.wav test1.mp3 sorry for flood np XD ok yes, these are the iemabs but you still need the iemlibs oh ok i didnt get thos e which have .pd_linux extensions http://www.netpd.org/~roman/iemlibs.tar.gz Now here in Sheffield we have all four iem libraries loading OK but... sqgl, very nicce wait also zexy and maxlib? i see them !!!!!!!!! laserbeak, ok. copy them also to /usr/lib/pd/extra cp *.pd_linux /usr/lib/pd/extra /usr/local/lib/pd/extra/zexy.pd_linux: /usr/local/lib/pd/extra/zexy.pd_linux: unsupported version 0 of Verneed record and o mor line one more line sqgl, ooops that is new to me.... zexy: can't load library hm.. nvere heard about this error this sounds like you should compile it again, on this machin.....i am afraid maybe we should try to make zexy rather than use the binary that happened to work on the first linux machine yesterday ok yes, maybe... but both are fedore core 5 machines? but we actually had problems making it and have the same processor? core 3 no 5 ok but both are the same? no same processor ok these are recycled machines from rubbish hm..this is strange.. cool so we recompile yes, then try to compile again.. ok.. i hope that works. maybe i should document here wot each machine is, just for the record yes For the record: laserbeak, could you copy the iemlibs to pd/extra? it's not letting me The Linux machine from yesterday that the zexy library worked for was/is: laserbeak, are you root? linux:/usr/lib/pd/extra/iemabs # cp '/home/laserbeak43/Documents/PD/iemlib1.pd_linux' '/home/laserbeak43/Documents/PD/iemlib2.pd_linux' '/home/laserbeak43/Documents/PD/iemmatrix.pd_linux' '/home/laserbeak43/Documents/PD/iem_mp3.pd_linux' '/home/laserbeak43/Documents/PD/iem_t3_lib.pd_linux' ../../../../usr/lib/pd/extra/ cp: target `../../../../usr/lib/pd/extra/' is not a directory: No such file or directory yes (according to 'cat /proc/cpuinfo') nvm i did it wrong ok it's done cool GenuineIntel Celeron (Coppermine), with fpu & fpu_exception, and wp (hatever that is) laserbeak, then go to the menu file->startup: The linux machine that the binary does not work for (and that we will need to recompile zexy for) is laserbeak, and add: iemlib1 iemlib2 iem_t3_lib iem_mp3 AuthenticAMD Durion with fp, fp_exception, wp each on a separate line. then click save all -button aha sqgl, this are differnet machines..then Very different two different processors Will document this when i make the binary available. so it is normal that you should recompile zexy.. i think ok done so the make will create a new .pd_linux file(?) which i will put on the web with a note about it being for Fedora Core 3 on *AMD* processor then go to file->path and add a line: /usr/lib/pd/extra/iemabs to tell pd where to look for the iemabs click here 'save all' as well. then you are done restart pd? hm. i don't know if it is necessary..but it is sure ok to try yes, restart and then tell me, if you see any errors yes errors? it loaded the libs now cool iemlib1 (R-1.16) library loaded! (or i forgot it.....) _chat ... couldn't create ???? thats ok hehe i didnt add it you are not supposed to create a [_chat] since chat is not in your searchpath that doesn't work ok okmatrix loaded then start again and tell me if you can create a matrix obj ok cool why is it not in my search pat? because it is in netpd/ not in netpd/abs we only added a path to netpd/abs ok but it worked before why not now? did i miss something? maybe you startet pd from that directory the start directory is also in the search path i mean when you do 'pd' in the netpd-directory anyway i never did that lets.try.a patch that uses a sequencer with pianroll
